For the long weekend, Chad and I drove into San Diego to enjoy the festivities of the holiday. Last year, I had a mild heat-stroke while watching the fireworks in Tempe, so it was an absolute must to get out of AZ. ha! We drove into the cute beach town of Carlsbad and stayed with our lil-sis Katie and her boyfriend Chris. They were excellent hosts and we had a great time touring around their beach town until heading off to Chad's friend Ricks for an annual 4th of July BBQ bash in San Clemente. Rick entertained us with his garage music, amazing view of the pacific, mini pool, karaoke and nearby beach access. On top of that, his central location provided us a view of 4 different firework shows and we even had our own to play with. It was a great night and an amazing 4th!
Over the weekend, we also caught up with our good friends Heather and Hickory who recently relocated to So. Cal from Maui! (We are thrilled to have them back on the mainland and only a few hours away. On Saturday, we ventured to Mission Bay in San Diego to hang out with our buddies for the day/night...it was an eventful day of barbecuing, throwing the frisbee around and our ultimate, boccie ball. We ended our long weekend relaxing in the hot tube and enjoying a Sunday breakfast before driving the 6hrs back home! Well worth the journey especially when it's 110+ back home. =)
