Hoover Dam Tour

On our way back from Las Vegas, it was a must that we stopped at the Hoover Dam. Chad was so excited about checking everything out and going on a tour, so we did! We got to witness the Hoover Dam Bypass bridge in progress and the particular tour we went on, took us inside the dam...530 feet down through the rock wall of Black Canyon. During the tour we got to see huge 30-foot diameter pipes that can transport nearly 90,000 gallons of water each second from Lake Mead to the dam's hydroelectric generators. The Nevada wing of the power-plant and eight of the dam's 17 huge generators, we navigated through tunnels to explore rarely seen areas of the dam, and we got to peek out air vents opening to the downstream face of the dam, which was crazy and saw the stairs reaching into the dark depths of the dam's mass concrete (they called them the stairs to heaven or hell). Let's just say creepy and I would cry if I ever had to use them.
