Water Rafting: White Salmon River

The day after the Hulme wedding, we went white water rafting down the White Salmon River in Oregon with the bride and groom, two of the groom's mates from England and the grooms Aunt.

Difficulty: Class III – IV
Length: 8 miles

The river offered exciting rapids, incredible canyon scenery, and 20 ft. cliff-jump back into the river. Designated for protection under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, the White Salmon is a breathtaking combination of whitewater and scenery. Fed by natural springs flowing from the glaciers of Mt. Adams, the White Salmon cascades through narrow, cliff lined basalt canyons before heading out into the warm sunshine of a forested valley. Throughout the trip, rafters are treated to continuous class III - IV rapids. In between the rapids, we had the chance to view lava formed rock walls, float alongside the rafts in crystal clear pools, and watch for wildlife in forests that are only accessible from the river. This incredible trip ended with a vertical plunge over the legendary 10' high Husum Falls (which is photographed below.) It was an awesome trip!!!
